Neurointervention has gained further importance in acute stroke care with the scientific proof of acute thrombectomy in selected patients. This workshop is targeting physicians involved in acute stroke care who want to get a basic understanding of the technique and devices of thrombectomy. The teaching neurointerventionist will give a short introduction into the technique and device presented at one of the four workstations equipped with simulation material, screens, and devices. Participants are shown and can try the devices under supervision of the faculty and company personnel. Registration is mandatory and will be handled on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Neurosonological Diagnosis: Hands-On Joint Workshop with ESNCH

Cervical and transcranial Doppler and Duplex add crucial information in common and rare stroke syndromes. In this hands-on workshop with four workstations, experienced neurosonologists will present basic neurosonological techniques. The participants will have a chance to try the Doppler machines under supervision of the faculty and company personnel. Registration is mandatory and will be handled on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Simulation Workshop
This workshop will be repeated. The same content will be presented in each workshop.

Thursday, 18 May, 2017                                                                                                           WS05:08:30-10:00
or
WS06: 10:30-12:00 (repeat session)

This workshop is directed primarily at interdisciplinary stroke teams that consider to set up a simulation-based training in their hospital.  In order to train such teams (paramedics - ER doctors - stroke neurologists/internists - ER nurses – ER radiologists) to properly receive and handle acute stroke patients, various simulation programs are being developed. This workshop will allow the audience participate, observe and comment on a acute stroke simulation play (ambulance - emergency room - imaging - thrombolysis/thrombectomy). The goals of the workshop are

1) to put the participants in the acute stroke situation and improve team-based

 acute management, and

2) show the audience how simulation techniques may be used in their own acute stroke network to improve efficiency and communications in their system.

Attending teams of multidisciplinary participants consisting of physicians and nurses from the same department will receive a surprise present. Registration is mandatory and will be handled on a first-come-first-serve basis.
